Long, long day

I've got to force myself to get to bed on-time. This sleep deprivation thing is killing me. I had many things I needed to do at work today, but it was so damn hard to focus and keep my eyes open.

Got to work at my usual time, 0740, and checking email when I realize I forgot we had inductions tonight (I'm their faculty/staff advisor) this evening. Their weekly meeting is at 1830 followed by induction at 2000. Oh, yeah, did I mention that the dress is coat and tie? So, I catch the 1619 bus, but miraculously it was on-time and missed it. :( So, had to wait another 30 minutes, got home finally around 1715, made a quick sandwich, changed and drove into campus. A wee bit late, but not that bad.

Good meeting and everyone is pretty pleased with how rush went--got 10 new guys. Then we round everyone up for the inductions for the new pledges. Afterwards I had my faculty/staff advisor talk with them to brief them on things on who I am and what my job is as the the faculty/staff advisor for this chapter of Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity.

One of the things I touched on was that I pledged this fraternity back in fall 1988. A joked that there will be no further discussion of how old I am. At that point another brother decides to chime in with something like, "Wow, some of us weren't even born yet!". He shall be properly smacked in the head later on--mark my words.

So, I'm exhausted, I have a headache and will be in bed very soon. Sorry to hear a lot of bad news from several LJ friends today. I hope things get better soon for you and your loved ones soon. G'night...

I hate that, "I wasn't even born yet," shit. It will cause me to vote for you to get an "f" on our group project and promptly call you out for age discrimination.
