Tornadoes, storms and no power

Major outbreak of storms here at home. I had several errands to do this evening right after work and it was not all that bad until I turned on the radio to listen to WRAL-FM (WRAL-TV simulcasts) and realized there were major outbreaks of tornadoes, strong winds and heavy rain. Every 5-10 minutes Greg Fishel is reporting new potential tornadic activity. WRAL-TV has been broadcasting solid weather coverage since 6:30pm and it's 8:07pm now and there are still outbreaks of rotation hot spots on the radar.

There were accidents all over the place. I'm guessing since there was no rain for many weeks the roads have accumulated a lot oil and with this fresh rain is making the roads very slick. Police are unable to keep up with all of the calls.

I got home about 7:00pm and realized I had no power. :( Not sure when it went out, but all of my UPS's were already exhausted. Grabbed some dinner here and since the power is still not back I'm headed out to bearcubbnc's house to hang out there. Far too boring here without power (especially on a Friday night).

UPDATE: Just as I was getting ready to head out the door, power back on at 8:20pm. Appears power went out at 6:10pm. Most of the severe weather has settled down.

Coming home to no power is NOT how I want would want to end my busy week.

I hope you enjoyed your time at bearcubbnc's place this evening.

Take care,

One of my fave memories from my old house... Power goes out, TV, Servers still on, and BEEP BEEP BEEP from the 5 stand alone UPSes scattered throughout the house. Hence, I am toying with building a select-circuit UPS system for the next house.
