Day 2 in Seattle

I slept in late and it was wonderful. :) That was mainly in part to hanging out with ljtourist last night and not getting back until 1:00am.

Finally got my ass out of bed and planned the day. I was determined to get to Mt. Ranier today. I picked a hike that would give me some scenic shots without an all day hike. It's amazing to see how big this park is. It would take weeks for me to explore all of it. I got a good 6 mile hike out of it (round trip) and guessing I'm going to be a little sore tomorrow. It was about 49°F on the mountain today.

Took several more pictures today and many of them really came out great. I added them to my existing set, but I did delete more of the duplicates and variations on the same scene to minimize the number of photos and uploading time.

Here is my favorite picture of the day (hard to pick just one):

Julz fixed a great dinner and it was just us two hanging out and catching up on things. We needed this time as she has some weird work plans and it's likely I won't get to see her before I leave tomorrow night. As for Friday, I need to get up early and pick a new location before 0830 when the housecleaning crew comes by. I think I may go north or pick something towards the coast this time (or both). GPS has been a lifesaver the past few days. So nice to just tell it where you want to go now without having to plan it on a map or figure out what to do about a wrong turn.

Re: Oooooh Pretty~
I think somewhere near the 9,500' level. It was one of the few moment Mt. Ranier was not shrouded in clouds--pretty rare that day.

Joe, were these taken on that road the goes around the whole mountain?
I took that drive one day a few years ago. I took all day as I was constantly stopping for "photo ops".

Nope. I had to drive to Mowich Lake (long 15mi gravel road to it from main roads) and hike down a 3 mile trail from there. About 2/3 of the way they have a lookout point. This is on the NW side of the mountain. There are other trails that have more spectacular views, but I did not have the time and the right gear for those long hikes.

Re: great shot
Yep, I have an account on flickr. I have linked to my photos in the above posting. I have a pro account there so I can upload a ton of high quality pics. However, I normally don't upload the full 6MP version--takes too long to upload.
