Embedded YouTube and high CPU issue?

What is the deal with embedded YouTube videos and web browsers lately?

Over the past few days if I look at LJ posts that have embedded YouTube videos my CPU goes wild. On my old PowerBook G4 it completely maxes out the CPU at 100%. If I scroll past YouTube on the screen the CPU goes idle. Scroll back to it, the CPU is maxed out again. Bear in mind I'm not doing anything with the YouTube video either.

My iMac G5 does the same thing, but not completely maxed out. My new iMac at home sees an increase in CPU, but not all that dramatic. Is there some issue here with YouTube code lately? I see this in Mozilla and Safari.

That's why I wish people would hide their effing YouTube posts behind cuts. It always causes me some browser woes.

Re: wow!
Then share! Just hide it behind a cut, please. :-)

Re: wow!
I would have to say I would prefer a simple link. I dug a little more into this high CPU thingy and it appears to be a bug in Mac OS 10.4.10 that they have addressed now (but not released yet).

Re: wow!
Disregard what I said there about Mac versions--bad information. I followed an incorrect topic. Something else is going on here. If I have time I will check out YouTube.

I found this plugin that blocks flash selectively...

Works great.

Mine too, it's nearly constant if there's an embedded video even if I'm not playing it. (Mozilla 1.7 on OS X 10.4 and 10.5, PowerBook G4.)

I did some digging earlier and forgot to update. Appears to be a known bug with 10.4.10 and Apple has addressed, but not released yet. I need to find that link again.

Also recently (probably with the last youtube gui update) my CPU pegs at 100% when watching embedded videos, strange. Anyone have a fix?
