BMW CCA Triangle meeting

Gilbert who normally runs the show for the BMW CCA meeting we have every 3rd Thursday was unable to make the meeting this evening. Since I replied to him earlier, I got sucked into running the meeting, but it's not a big deal. I already had some video footage from Fifth Gear to show on the new Mini and the Lamborghini Gallardo to show everyone. Only had 11 people, so definitely a slow night (we normally see twice that and then some).

With people talking about cars and stuff and upcoming track time at VIR for the next High Performance Driving School, I was really longing to get back out on the track. That will have to wait until I have a track car and that will have to wait until my budget allows it when my current car is paid off in a few months. It's great to just be with guys who like to talk about BMW's, how to fix things, mechanics, tech talk and all share in the thrill of driving these cars both new and old. Again, another good way to end the evening.

Oh, yeah, one tidbit that came up before the meeting. They were talking about one of the new Nissan 350Z cars (can't recall which sub-model) that is electronically speed limited to 118mph. The navigation system built-in is apparently smart enough to figure out when you are driving on a race track and automatically removes that 150mph speed limit. Slick. :)

As for the 350Z, I'll bet it's either the NISMO model they're referring to, or more likely, the new Skyline GTR supercar that will be available soon....

GTR and that's a Japan feature, and the limiter is set to 118.

And it probably automatically voids your warranty too.

Yeah, that makes more sense. 150mph seems a bit high.

Yep, it was the GTR--I remember now.
