Fred Phelps to picket Eve Carson funeral

Yes. Believe it. Fred Phelps has asked his Westboro Baptist Church followers to picket at the funeral being held here on campus this afternoon for Eve Carson (UNC-CH student body president recently murdered).

I talked to some of my media contacts to get some details. The WBC did ask for a permit, but were only allowed a small spot at least 2 blocks away from the Dean Dome. One or more student organizations have already planned a counter-attack on them to completely surround them so they could not even be seen--excellent.

Just having those unhuman beings on my turf still gives me the creeps.

The problem with shooting them is you have to be really careful or they die too quickly. You've got to torture them for an extended period of time to make sure they learn their lessons before terminating them with extreme prejudice.

Of course, they get off on extreme prejudice.

I don't care if they die happy, as long as they die soon and die in extreme pain.

they had planned to go to Auburn for the memorial there too... but ended up not coming... though the students were ready to do the same thing to them there.

He's a wacko, there's no reasoning with him, and they'll use any excuse to sue.

When we've countered him in the past, we've notified people that they can donate money to some worthy cause based on the number of minutes he stays to picket. Then once the picketing is complete and he leaves, the donations are tallied up and his group is faxed a note to let them know.

I don't know if it stops him from picketing -- probably not-- but it puts a positive response in the hands of the picketed people, instead of just anger.

Ugh... he's a complete loser and so is his hideous church/family/cult.

I say a student group go over in front of them and parade back and forth with signs saying, "God hates people who protest funerals!"

These folks are extraordinary bullies... loud, dramatic, and demanding attention, but stand up to them, & they scatter like roaches in the light.

I do love the parody of one of their websites:

Oh no. What is their stated "reason" this time!

I'm never certain how I should feel about this- my initial reaction is disgust and anger, but I can't help but feel that they're not worth the emotion. I think we're all fortunate that we're not emotionally/mentally unstable enough to be able to comprehend the mindset that spawns such absurdly ass-backwards ideologies.
