Busch Gardens, 17 May

Better late than never. I have planned the Busch Gardens trip in Williamsburg, Virginia to be 17 May 2008. This is on a Saturday. This is the only weekend available that was not part of a holiday weekend or major bear event that is local. It does not matter if only 2 people make it or 20--I'm going anyway. :p I and most of my local friends will probably just make a day trip out of it since it's about 2.5 hours away.

If you can make it, please reply to this entry as soon as you can with numbers. If there are enough people a group rate may be available (I think we would need like 15 to get it). I'll be happy to arrange the group rate if we get that many. Again, anyone who can come is welcome (it is a public park after all) to join us. Was hoping some LJ friends from around DC, Charlotte and other areas can make it and we would at least organize a few mass gaggles during the day to meet people.

Some will want to do all of the rides (me, me, me!) and others will hold our cameras (and others somewhere in between). It's entirely up to you on what you want to do. For this trip I'm not organizing any sleeping accommodations, but I'm sure there are a few in the area who watch my journal who could offer suggestions for those that are traveling a bit further for this.

If this proves successful I will better plan the next one much better and more in advance.

Well, I won't be in your neck of the woods on May 17th, but I think I will be on... um... Wednesday June 4th.

I'm driving from New Orleans to DC for a conference. Yeah, I know, long trip, but I have friends along the way that I haven't seen in a while. So, I've broken up the trip so I can visit everyone as well as keep things easy for my car. I planned on stopping somewhere in North Carolina, my halfway point between Georgia and DC.

Wanna play tourguide for part of an afternoon?

If the timing is right, you can hang out with the local bears as the cafe that we have every Wednesday evening in downtown Durham.

Oh, awesome!!!

What the name of the place where this happens? If all works out, I should be able to make that.

You can make it from Raleigh-Durham to Williamsburg in 2.5 hours? How fast do you drive?

As for lodging, you could scare the families and stay in a "Majestic Bear Suite" at Great Wolf Lodge:

Yep, it would take 2.5 hours if I did not stop for anything and had a full tank of gas. So, yeah, it will normally take a bit longer. Driving up on a Saturday morning means no traffic too.

Hey, there, we are still coming on the 17th and planning on making it a day trip only. Looks like I'm only brining 4 people with me so far.

Cool. I mentioned it to a couple of friends here, and they were interested. If I get a group, maybe we can set a time and place to meet in the park.

Brian says he might like to do this and if so, I'm on board for some coaster action!
