Lots of rain and more to come

Home weather station recorded 2.46" of rain yesterday. I can't remember the last time I saw that much rainfall in one day at this location. Just like the last 2 days, the storms are building all over the place and moving in for another wave this evening. Could get another 1-2". That definitely helps us with our mild drought we still have right now. Yard is going to be like a jungle before long.

Humidity has just been awful the last few days. It's the kind you can slice with a knife and there's hardly any breeze out there. We expect more shower and thunderstorms the next few days too. I would try to capture some photos of the lightning, but the air is so hazy with the humidity that you really can't see much at all.

Trial and error. If you look at the lightning photos I have on flickr you can see the settings for the camera.

One of the key things is to set the camera for a very long shutter time of like 1-20 seconds. Then you take lots of pictures sequentially until you capture lightning during one of the exposures and have a look and see what to adjust.

If you expose too long, you start to see too much of the city lights lighting up the sky. Too little and the lightning comes out dim. However, you have a lot of wiggle room here so precision is definitely not needed.
