Cards, Busch Gardens and rainy Sunday

Had a great time Friday evening hanging out with bearcubbnc, arktosnc, zacwolfdotcom (first time meeting him) and many others who don't have LJ accounts. I think I remembered all of their first names so, that's pretty good for me. Did great at Uno, but I never failed to demonstrate the bone-headed move of doing something like placing a red 9 on top of a yellow 6--doh!! 1000 Bornes was an interesting game too.

Saturday davegrrr and nc_slow_dancer headed to Busch Gardens for the day. Left about 0830 and got started on the rides around 1200 or 1300. There was some sort of school band event that weekend and many people came here for the day. davegrrr and I have done similar events and run into some really nasty kids. Fortunately, these kids were more mature and easier to get along with. davegrrr and I were started to get headaches from the rides and wondering how long we were going to make it while nc_slow_dancer kept looking at us wondering how he was the older guy was doing just fine. :) We caught our second wind and carried on until about 2130 (later than planned).

Apollo's Chariot was still the favorite. I always like to ride with first times and get their impressions and it's always like "WOW". That first 210' drop is the best! :) We contemplated about planning a trip to Cedar Point for some really good roller coaster rides.

We stopped off at the Cracker Barrel (in Williamsburg) on the way home and ran into some really bad service. No one took our drink order for 10 minutes. Order was not taken for another 10 minutes. Food finally arrives 35 minutes after we first say down. We were contemplating desert when the waiter hands us the bill, thanks us for our time and then runs away (fastest service we've had all evening!). So..., I guess we're not getting desert. She barely got a 10% tip (and I thought that was generous). We would have walked out earlier, but we were tired, exhausted, very hungry and it was already coming up to 2200 and he had not started on our 3 hour trip back home yet.

Finally crawled into bed at 0230 and slept in until 1030. Just catching up on stuff at home and have the Formula 1 race on the DirecTiVo to watch. Plan on making some homemade spaghetti this evening. Sounds like the prefect thing to do on this cool and rainy Sunday afternoon.

Oh, Busch Gardens! So many good memories! I wish that I was there with you. After all, it's like Europe.. only closer!

Did Cracker Barrel fix their stance on gay employees? We're still boycotting that place. Hell, I'll probably continue to even if they did fix it. They fired employees in the early 90s for no other reason than the fact that they were gay. Since their was no sexual orientation clause in their contract, and since there was no precedent for wrongful termination suits winning, they just had to take it (so to speak).

Yeah, they fixed that years ago (otherwise I would not go there). After that fiasco they reformed and added sexual orientation to their non-discriminatory policy late in 2002.
