In Seattle and no rain (either location)

Got up at OMG 30 (0430) and got to the airport at about 0515 which turned out to be just right. As soon as I got to my gate it was time to board. Flights from RDU to HOU and HOU to SEA were uneventful. After nearly 8 hours of being on a plane by butt had pretty much lost all circulation.

Huge line for Alamo car rental and ended up in a Chrysler Town and Country (yeah, plenty big, but nothing else was available). The most amusing thing while waiting in line was watching another customer who was just served come back to the counter complaining he had not been given any keys for his car. She tried to explain to him that they were already in the ignition. His response was how was he supposed to get into the car to get the keys? She explained it again, but I don't think it completely sunk in on this guy. I think we was truly bewildered by the fact that anyone would leave keys in the ignition of an unlocked car. Um, hello, that's why they have a checkout point to verify you are the authorized driver of the vehicle.

Got to Julie's about 1300, got to the grocery store to stock up on some things, so I'm set there. Been IM'ng texwriterbear and mikiedoggie trying to sort out some plans. Looks like nothing is really planned for tonight which is fine as I feel like my body is going to crash here in a few hours anyway.

Weather here is about 70°F, cloudy and damp--that's Seattle. It is nice to have a climate change from back home anyway. It sure beats a hot summer back in North Carolina.

Oh, yeah, had to get a raincoat, so I drove to the REI store in town. This is the flagship REI store. It's two stories, the climbing wall is like 3 stories I think) and makes all of the REI stores back home look like mini stores. It's really impressive to see and the staff there are excellent. Every sport is represented here which is pretty cool too.

Back home there were reports of more heavy rain today in the triangle area, but my rain gauge recorded zippo today. Guess it all missed Durham?

Very nice in Athens today ... sunny and in the low 80s.

Have a great trip!

Glad you made it safe and sound, Joe. 70 degrees sounds so pleasant. We hit 105 degrees here in Stockton this afternoon.

Have a wonderful time in Seattle!

Ugh, you can keep that heat--no thanks.

Hey, at least I'm in the same timezone as you now. :)

The heat certainly does bite. We're expecting a cooling trend by Sunday.

It's good to have you here in our time zone, Joe!

All the best,

Cory

Yeah Joe, it missed Durham completely but Carrboro got hammered again. The creek at Russells Ford house crested over the road!

Your car is fun to drive!

Wow, that's a low of water. Interesting how Durham got completely missed this time.

And, yes, I know. :)

Yay for safe trips! Have fun with the guys and be careful of mikiedoggie, he carries mutliple cameras and they're not always visible to the casual observer.

And what was that about "feeling your body" or something... :)

I did not say "feeling my body", sweetie. I said my body was not feeling like it was going to make it much later into the evening. Somehow I made it until 11pm talking to my cousin.

So did you get a butt massage after the flight to wake your behind up? :-)

Have a great time in Seattle!
