Kitchen update

The folks installing my countertops are due out here Monday afternoon to do the templating, so that's moving forward. I think the name of the company was Apex Stone and Brick or something like that.

Stopped by Lowe's today to check out fridges again and I finally picked one I really like. Lowe's also has a 10% off sale on major appliances over $349 and includes free shipping for the next 7 days. Then the salesperson asked if I can wait until Friday. Why? North Carolina is having a tax-free weekend on all Energy Star compliant appliances! Apparently there are a few other states doing the same thing.

So, I can get my dishwasher and refrigerator, 10% off, tax free and next-day delivery at no cost. Win! Somehow, I don't see the range as qualifying, but looks like Sears (I want Kenmore for the range) is having their own 10% sale as well. Somehow I don't think the range will qualify as Energy Star compliant.

I am amazed to see how efficient refrigerators are now. The one I'm looking at is about 24'3 and annual electrical cost is about $45/year. That's impressive.

I'm jealous. I want to renovate our kitchen so badly, but it is probably ten years off for us. We do have a really cool paint job, tho, courtesy of beloved hubby!

Oh, yes, paint is on the list. The all white is pretty boring. ready to move on to something far more colorful.

Just thinking of how painful my bathroom renovation was, a kitchen reno scares the hell out of me. You're a braver man than me.

Well, there are upgrades--not a complete renovation. Countertops and appliances are clearly the pricey items here. All of the other work I'm doing myself which saves a lot of money. The house is only 10 years old. The house has appreciated well, so I don't mind spending the money here. I plan to sell within 2 years, so this is for me, but also investing in it for bigger return.

Cutting-Edge Cold
Srsly ... most gey men require $thousands annually in cocktails and hookup site fees to remain that chilly. ;>)

I'm so jealous. I replaced the appliances a couple of years ago with some nice stainless steel high end ones, but have not had the money for countertops yet. We are still stuck with 1950's white formica with the gold glitter in it. . .
