Kitchen update, electrical

I spent about 8 hours or more working on the kitchen today. Goals were to do a lot of rewiring. I had to add an outlet for the new over-the-range microwave for starters. My kitchen has two circuits for countertop appliances. I pulled both of these circuits to a new outlet and put one circuit on the upper socket and the other circuit on the lower socket. Then I removed the tab on both sides so that each socket was isolated from each other. So, when I plug in the microwave I can choose one circuit or the other depending on where I locate my toaster over (can't have those on the same circuit).

Next I needed to add some switches to control my new light over the sink and undercabinet lighting (yet to be installed). I had to fish this wire in the wall 4 times before I finally gave up and bought fish tape from the hardware store. I had the wire pulled in 5 minutes. That was definitely worth the cost and I can use that for future projects now.

I got the mess cleaned up, took a few pictures and added them to my Kitchen upgrade set on Flickr, so you can see what I'm talking about. You'll need to skip past the earlier photos if you've seen them before.

All that crawling around in the crawl space has made my back cranky. That and the leaf raking yesterday has added up to a sore back. I'll need to take it easy tomorrow. Even my hands and fingers are raw from stripping/splicing wire, drilling, etc.

Yeah, I needed ibuprofen last night to deal with the soreness. I'm better today, but I was taking it easy. All of that crouching down and climbing in the crawl space (standing on studs and balancing myself to make sure I did not fall through the ceiling below) really wore me out.

I had to take ibuprofen a couple of weeks ago, but it was for a more profane reason - not enough warming up before getting into some serious badminton games.

Didn't you just do some work on your house this year? I would think you would be the pro at that now. :)
