One very cold day in North Carolina

According to my weather station it's only 22.9°F (-5.1°C) as of 12:20pm. It's still moving up, but ever so slowly. Keep in mind the skies are clear with full sun.

I know my friends much further north think that's normal, but it sure isn't here in central NC. I can't recall when we've had a high temperature that low in the area. Morning low was 14.9°F. We may knock a few more degrees off that tonight. No records set yet.

The wind blowing through ain't helping things either.

I don't see your ass visiting our state when it's 100°F and 100% humidity. Correct?

I want to say "Pussies" but in reality I don't wish colder weather on anyone.

Well, we do have our other extremes that I'm sure you northern folk would whine about. How about a heat index of 115°F? :)

We're all excited at the prospect of getting ABOVE zero today, even if only briefly. It was 21 below zero last night air temp and 18 below with 28 below windchill this morning when I got to work. Currently it is a balmy minus 8 under bright sunny skies.

Still, it looks like the cold will keep it's grip on the US for several more days. Hope you get above zero for an extended period of time. Definitely good snuggling weather.

YAY! It's officially 2 degrees at the airport and 6(!) at the weather station closest to work. We're having a HEAT WAVE!

Yep, word. I can't compare to Minneapolis, but Chicago also has it abit chilly. We currently have no temperature, whoops 0 value isn't the same as null. :)

Agreed though for North Carolina, you all must have churches filling up wondering why God has forsaken the Great State of North Carolina!

Shut it!

I see much whining from you seeing as you live in San Francisco. :p

There would have been lots more fatalities. There's hardly any passenger traffic on the Lake in the winter. That's also assuming the plane wouldn't have split up as it hit the not so calm waters of Lake Michigan.

I don't know what the wind chill was, but I think it knocked it down about 10 degrees.
