Road trip: Durham NC to Cincinnati OH

I got on the road at about 0900 this morning in the pouring, cold rain. It rained pretty much until I got into Virginia. There was some snow and ice on the trees, but that was about it. Garmin got confused as is suggested an alternate route that ended up taking me on an unpaved road--that also dead ends. It was then I realized at some point I accidentally unchecked the option to avoid unpaved roads. Oops. Had the road not have been blocked, it would have been a shorter route, though. I'll send an update to Navteq.

Got to kybearfuzz's house about 1730, so it was about 9 hours total. We then headed out to dinner and met up with cincycub in town. It was really great to meet these two guys in person and find out so much more about them. Their pictures online don't do them justice. ;) These are some awesome people and glad to have them as friends.

In other news the car is misbehaving. I'm getting a vibration under acceleration that I can't explain. Sometimes it's there, sometimes now. Quick research on the web makes it sound like one of the front drive axles. Repacking the joints could buy me some time until i get back home, but not sure. I'm going to call BMW in the morning and see what my options are. Of all the times to have car problems..., 520 miles from home. Grrrr...

I'm exhausted. Good night.

Uh-oh! I hope all is okay with the car. We are very flexible, so no stress where we are concerned. I had planned to leave town on Friday, but I have put that trip off for a couple of weeks.

Be safe!

Car is doing OK. It did show some of the same behavior today, but not nearly as bad as last Sunday since it was more flat. There is definitely a pattern there. I think it will make it just fine all the way back home where my mechanic can have a look at it. So, far, I'm on schedule.

I hope you haven't had to drive in the likes of what I had to drive through to get to work this morning. Back in NJ, it snowed 8-10". Apparently, this was a merge of two weather systems and so central and southern NJ were the hardest hit with snow. Mid-morning, it snowed pretty heavily west of Philadelphia but it didn't accumulate as much as it did in NJ.

Given what I went through back in December, I know all too well what it's like needing car repairs at a distance from home.

Safe driving.

Nope, definitely not that bad. Lots of cold rain and pretty snow to someone the trees, but that was it. You could tell it was bad earlier though.

As for the car, it appears they can wait until I get back home.
