Windows Vista help

The new PC I got back in January came with Windows Vista so I stuck with that. This is what I use to run my Quicken stuff (still sucks on Mac) and primarily my weather station. I use Weather Display as my software for compiling the weather data and distributing it to the NWS and Weather Underground.

A few weeks ago I finally got around to installing Mozy to handle my backups. However, about once/week the Weather Display software crashes when Mozy fires up to do its monthly backups. The software has a separate daemon to monitor the main process and restart it immediately if it crashes. However, Vista, in it's infinite stupidity and unhelpfullness, keeps grabbing the crashing application and throwing up a dialog box to warn me that the application has died. It then hangs there until I click the damn OK button. This makes the monitoring software think the main program is still running and it never gets a chance to restart it.

Any ideas on how to get around this? This software is normally rock solid. Weather Display and Mozy just don't seem to get along that well now on Vista. If there's no solution, I may have to go back and install XP--ugh.

I went in somewhere and turned confirmations OFF so that it wouldn't ask me was I sure everytime I clicked a mouse. When I get back to the VISTA machine, I will see if I can find where to do that....

Now realize I have already turned off error reporting. I did that last week when I discovered this problem initially. Vista still pops up a box to let you know the application died.

I mean, ok, to be honest -- I've never yet touched Vista. But everything I've heard and read tells met that it's got major issues.

Yeah, they said the same thing about XP, but XP *home* was the bad stuff. XP Pro is awesome.

In my un-humble opinion. :-)

It's looking more and more like I may need to go back to XP Pro (which is what I was running before). :( I'll try a few more things before throwing in the towel.
