It's cold and it's snowing..., perfect!

The trip from RDU to DFW was a piece of cake and I slept the entire flight. The flight out of DFW was a different story. We're getting ready to take off from one end of the runway when ATC decided to switch runways on everyone. So, we taxied to the other end only for DFW to shutdown for about 2 hours due to a major line of thunderstorms.

Once in Gunnison we traveled off to Crested Butte. I must say, there's not a whole lot out here. Lots of ranches, more snow as you got closer to Crested Butte with quite a bit of history when it used to be a mining town. However, right here in Crested Butte and the mountain, there is snow--lots of it. The forecast? I'm glad you asked. We're under a Winter Storm Warning until 0600 Friday morning. We're expecting up to 4" of snow tonight, 10" tomorrow and maybe some more on Friday. Temperatures? In the 20's. It does not get much better than this.

I have a little bit of altitude sickness (it's 9375' at the base), but as long as I keep sipping water and get sleep I should be good to go tomorrow. Room is pretty swank (it wasn't cheap), very comfy. I'm looking forward to tomorrow morning.

I'm really hoping there will be plenty of floating and it's nice to have an LJ friend who actually know what it means. :) Well, there are a few others, but not many.

I need to spend some time warming up a bit and exploring things before diving into it too deep I definitely want to head into the bowls, but everyone has their idea of what a real double-black diamond is. So, I'll be approaching that with a great deal of caution.
