Good and bad of Crested Butte

Yesterday was a spectacular day with clear skies. I took quite a few photos, but the wireless access here is so poor that it would take forever and a day to upload them. All of the main trails were groomed allowing for much faster runs compared to Thursday.

I finally braved the higher slopes, but they are only serves by t-bars. I've never done a t-bar on a snowboard and it was a challenge. I fell the first 2 times and got it on the third. There were definitely some trails up there that still had some soft powder and I found one of them. However, I got a little too far off the beaten path and his several jagged racks (the board--not me).

While the snowboarding has been wonderful, I missed the boat on the social aspect of this trip. I know practically no one here. Some of the big social events were very pricey, so I avoided them. It's these actual events that people meet others and network.

I did talk at length with one of the Outboard board members this morning and it was good to make at least one friend. After that I met another that I knew from a few years ago. So, that's two people I know now. However, this is the last day. I'll have to see how I feel after this event is over and I get back to reflect more on it. By far, I've been too alone and that has placed a huge dent into this vacation.

Speaking of feeling, my stomach is off this morning. Just overall mild nausea. I finally ate some food and hoping this will pass soon. Not sure if this is still altitude sickness or something else. I also feel a bit chilled. I would hate to miss my last day of the season.

Well... I just hope the good will remain and the bad will be forgotten. Glad to hear boarding was nice and that your tummy is slowly going back to normal and sad to hear you feel alone.

I just feel I'd love to give you a hug now.

Nothing will replace skiing with the bear clan!
