Kitchen backsplash done

Well, it's about 99% done. Still some touch-ups here and there, but that's it. Here are the results...

DSCN0455

This was my first tiling job and I learned a lot of lessons. First, I now have a new appreciation for people who charge big bucks for this stuff. It is hard work, tedious, labor intensive and it takes many, many hours. Second, buy tile from a reputable place, get samples and overestimate (like 10% or more) how much you will need. Third, unless you are proficient at this, don't think this is something you can knock out in a day. All told this was probably about 20 hours broken up into 4 days.

Still a few other things to do in the kitchen, but the big stuff is done now. I'm very pleased with the results and people who have seen it so far are impressed.

I could see floors being easier. Leaning over a countertop of a small kitchen was enough to do my back in. I see much work in your future.

Wow, that looks spectacular! Lots of hard work, but it looks like it definitely paid off.

Definitely a lot of work into it--far more than I expected. The comments here have been overwhelming. :)

But it's lovely. Much better than my new kitchen with their "granite - like" countertops.

Joe, that looks wonderful. I very much like the tile you chose. Your kitchen looks great! You give me hope that we can do some of the remodeling we want to do, ourselves.

You just need to find the time and figure out how to not have a functioning kitchen for a few days..., weeks..., maybe months.

That is a pretty phenomenal job there, mister! My god you have a very uncluttered counter top though...
