In Seattle, Winthrop next

Yesterday's travel were uneventful with a stopover in Chicago. I hate getting up at 0400 in the morning, but the one huge advantage is that everything runs on time. I screwed up my timezones and thought that I was getting into SEA late afternoon only to realize that I was getting here at 1100! I chose the new light rail system to get from Seatac to downtown Seattle. It only cost $2.50, about 35 minutes and it was a nice trip into town--love good mass transit. It will be nicer when they complete that last leg to the airport (you have to take a short 5 minute bus ride until December).

So, I made my way down to Pike Market Place for some grub. The only annoying thing was that I had to haul my luggage around since Duane and Eric were stuck at work until 1630. I took quite a few pictures in the park nearby, but I'll upload them later when I have some more bandwidth.

I'm here at Duane and Eric's this morning waiting on mom and dad to pick me up and head out to Winthrop where my cousin is getting married. It's very cool here in the mid-40's this morning with clear and sunny skies. In Winthrop it's supposed to be near 90. Should be a very scenic drive.

Are you going via the North Cascades Highway? If not you should, in at least one direction. I happened to do it around sunset several years back...truly magical.

Yep, that's the route I took. Incredible weather too for that scenic route.

Welcome to Washington State (again). Should be very scenic between here and Winthrop.

I've yet to give the light rail systema try. Almost sounds like a photo op just waiting to happen

The light rail system was great. Except for that last section where you still need a bus to connect (ends December) it was a nice ride through the burbs into downtown. It's cool how the train is coordinated with all of the traffic signals so you just fly through. Underground was euqally cool, although it's a little strange to see buses going in and out of the same tunnels the train was using.

Enjoy the cool weather. It's still hot and humid in NC.
