Netflix and PS3 are united

Was just checking my Netflix queue and was notified that they now have software to install on your PS3 to stream movies instantly. I just requested the disc (not sure why you can't just download) and it should be here soon. This will be pretty cool to do this. I had no other devices to stream stuff directly from Netflix (I now that Roku is a $99 option, but I have no more HDMI inputs right now).

You need the disk for Netflix to work. It will not download onto the hard drive. If you want to use the online Neflix access the disk has to be in the slot. I think they had to do it this way because the 360 has an exclusive for a while longer on console programming.

It works. It would work faster if it loaded from the hard drive but it still works surprisingly well.

I have used PlayOn for my 360 and I believe they have support for PS3 as well. You just have to install it on a computer that is on the same network as the console. I don't know a lot about the PS3 but it may be worth looking into if that disc has to be in all the time. They have a free 14 day trial.

I saw that too, and wondered if there was a substantial difference between a PS3 and a Wii, if I were to choose to acquire either of those. Not that it is on the immediate horizon or anything, as I should probably have a TV first! The Roku is pretty cool, for the price.
