Grandma vs. bad dog

My cousin called me up this morning to let me know that my grandma (97 y/o) was back at home resting after a really nasty battle with a dog. Across the hall from grandma tenants had a small dog that apparently had been passed around for some time due to behavioral issues. Yesterday that dog attacked my grandmother on her right arm and hand. It took about 100 stitches to repair the damage. Grandma admitted she was in some pain (and it takes a LOT for grandma to say that), but she was focusing on getting rest and glad the ordeal is over with. The tenants across the hall are also very upset and horrified that their dog could attack anyone like that.

After all that, mom was talking to her today and asking how she was getting along with eating and other activities since she's right handed. She explained that eating cereal with her left hand has proven to be quite a challenge as she kept bumping her nose with the spoon and other odd things making a mess. She has decided to stay in her room and will avoid the dining hall until her eating skills has improved (she said all this while laughing at herself). It was pretty funny hearing her explain all this.

Grandma is just unstoppable and I love her for that.

I tell ya, the small dogs are always the most vicious ones.

Glad to see your grandma is one tough broad with a great sense of humor. I get so angry at dog owners who can't or won't control their dogs, no matter what size.

Your 97 yo grandmother and my 97 yo grandfather are evidently cut from some of the same fabric. He just keeps bouncing back, though he can barely hear and he scares the living daylights out of us every time he gets out of a chair and starts walking around. It is great that our grandparents are still sharp as a tack though...

I'm glad your grandma is okay, and is as tenacious as she seems to be! A huge dog lover myself, I think, unfortunately, that it is time for this dog to leave this life. It saddens me to say that.
