I finally got to take off the bandages this morning and take a hot shower since Monday morning--I'm a new person. Feels good to feel another closer step to normal. It was really starting to get itchy underneath the bandage. Here are the pics from the bandage before and after removal...

Shoulder post-surgeryShoulder post-surgery

You'll note the extra furiness is gone! I forgot they were going to have to shave all that hair off. Feels a little weird to have the armpit with no hair. Worst part is that my fur is uneven now. I'll save a photo of that for FYFF.

Still taking 2 oxycodone every 3 hours and that seems to be doing the best at keeping most of the major pain at bay. I wait until after I've taken the medication, then do exercises then throw on the ice pad machine for an hour. I''m sleeping napping in between all of that. Some flexibility is returning and the pain is manageable, so all is good as can be right now.

Thanks for all of the good wishes and support from all my friends. It really means a lot--each and every one.

Other than getting up every 3 hours to get food and drugs, I slept pretty well for a change. Definitely more flexibility today. Good to catch up with you last night.

It's amazing how small the incisions are... hope you continue on the mend!

I knew they were going to be small, but no idea they would be that small after I took off the bandage.

Arthroscopic probably will make the healing process much faster. Get lots of rest and enjoy the break from work.

Agreed. Things do appear to be healing quickly. Hardly any tenderness around the incisions. I've been checking email and a few things, but have limited my interaction to the berry for now. They're doing a good job of leaving me alone so far.

Thanks, Joe! So far, so good. I'm even dialing back the pain meds to the minimum since the pain has really subsided. I've got some more exercises to do here shortly and see how I feel then.

That does NOT look fun. I'm glad you're feeling good though :) *careful hugs*

So, did you finally get the ice pad machine working?

Don't push yourself too hard the first few days.

So what did they do to your shoulder? As low_fat_muffin man said, I'm about 24 hours behind you. I had bone spurs removed and the inner surfaces of the collar bone / scapula joint removed. Sounds like they gave me heavier drugs than they gave you. Even with that, my pain level is not good.

It was not too bad. I was still foggy when they told me what the did and mom did not recall the details. I did have some bone spur that was impinging on my rotator cuff and there was one other major item that I just can't recall at this point (will know when I go to PT tomorrow morning). All of this was doing to a mountain biking accident back in Sept where I overextended my shoulder when I fell.

I stopped taking the oxycodone Wed evening as I just did not need it anymore. There is still some pain with certain movements, but at rest/relaxed there was no pain.

Yikes! Well, hooray for painkillers. And hopefully this will be the end of your shoulder saga. Wishing you fast healing!

Good luck with the recovery, it doesn't look fun but it will be an improvement over the last few months I hope.
