Encampment update

Another brief update on the status of encampment this week. Have not had time to read any other journals this past week. This dial-up stuff is just painful too.

Monday I had a bunch of paperwork to do while the cadets were on the obstacle course. Some of the senior members ran the course too, but came out with some new bruises.

Tuesday was the water survival class where several cadets practiced how to make life preservers out of their BDU's (uniforms), practice jumping from a platform and some other got to try swimming with a full gear pack on.

Wednesday was the Military Working dogs demonstration and Land Navigation course. Were were in the trees with the cadets trying out their new orienteering skills. It was quite hot with no wind.

Thursday was just a brutal day weather wise. Full steam bath. It was hot before 1000 today. Cadets got to see Pedro, CH-46 helicopter. They had lots of classes and some more sports in the evening.

Friday will be extra cool when the cadets get orientation rides on the Pedro! They don't even know that they're going to get a chance to fly on a military helicopter yet tomorrow morning. :) Got the thumbs up to take video and will be one some of those rides with the cadets.

Off to bed. Need to get up at 0515. :(
