I only weigh myself Friday mornings. It keeps me from overanalyzing my weight loss and it's a consistent time to measure it. 2 weeks ago I weight 165. A week ago I weighed 165. So no weight loss there and I was eating a little bit more than I usually do, so that was not a big surprise.

This morning as I was getting ready to get breakfast I realized I did not weigh myself yet. I took off most of my clothes and did a double take. Took off the rest of my clothes (since I usually weigh myself naked just before showering) to get the most accurate number and was really surprised--160.5 lbs.! I was really floored and not sure what caused me to lose 4.5 lbs. in a week. That's really freaky, but I'm so happy too.

Granted, this could bounce back a bit, but still, this is very good. I'm almost past the 160 lbs. barrier.

Congrats Joe! I was slightly bummed to find I'd gained a pound at last weigh-in, but eh, it happens.

You do realize you're now obliged to post a picture of you doing your normal weigh-in...just as you normally do it. ;) Or at least send a copy to me.... *grin*

1 pound is nothing when it happens every now and then. Gaining or losing a pound on a regular basis is significant. You can't overanalyze those small changes or you'll drive yourself nuts.

And, yes, as soon as I hit the button to submit this LJ post, I knew the FYFF issue was going to come up. We'll have to see what might happen down the road with that. ;)

Yeah, my first weight gain this diet was annoying, but not something I worry about. Like I said, it happens. *shrug*

And yeah, super-classy me was the first person to jump on the dirty mind wagon. Of course. ;)

I expected no less from you. :)

*grin* And ouch. ;)

Ah, your lost weight seems to have found a new home... in my waistline.

Congratulations! I also vote for a photo of your weigh in as well!

What? Are you gaining weight? How is that happening? Someone not getting out enough? Don't make me come up there!

Maybe in a future issue of FYFF there will be more to see. ;)

Mostly probably due to eating a little more than I should be in combination with not exercising enough.

Wait, isn't the goal to make you come up?

Point in case:

I think that'd make even a dead person want to come up there ;)

Hehe, come up. Yeah. :)

I weigh myself naked too (AFTER I pee and poop). I'm trying to get down to a 1?0 weight myself, but 160 is NO WHERE NEAR my goal.

Well, I weighed 140 all through college and I'm only 5'8". So, if I can get to 155, I'll be happy.

So, what are you trying to get down to?
Mar. 12th, 2010 03:42 pm (UTC)
I got down to 148 about 15 years ago, but that was with the help of mono. The dr. told me if I lost any more weight he was going to put me in the hospital, so I ate and ate and ate myself up to 175. I dropped down to about 160. Now if I can get close to 180, I'll be happy.

Wow, it has been all over the place. From what I recall, you are a stockier guy than me (larger frame and taller) so not surprising you would weigh more. Still, you're within reason. You will not have to join the ranks of The Biggest Loser to accomplish your goals.

However, do pick a goal and allow plenty of time to get there. I find that much more successful for me. I don't believe in rapid weight loss for long term goals.

It took some time, but the waistline started to catch up. I'm right on the edge of switching over from my 36W jeans/khakis to 34W. Actually, they might fit now.

No cowboy boots for me--my feet are too delicate. :)

Congrats Joe. I found the mystery weight loss out of nowhere back in August 08. Hard as I tried to break through 200-205, I couldn't. After 3 weeks out of nowhere, bam 196. I have no scientific basis in this opinion, but I think afterall your body stops resisting and goes along with whatever program you put in front of it if you stay consistent.

Edit-Add: After hitting 196, I traveled to a buddy's Basic Training Grad down in Ft. Benning, GA. Yea, trying NOT to pig out when you are surrounded by starving army privates, who only want to go to Dairy Queen is damn near impossible.

Same thing happens on The Biggest Loser where contestants hit strange road blocks, but also see dramatic drops they did not anticipate.

As long as the trend is towards weight loss, no worries.

I've been pretty good at resisting temptations and I'm really proud of myself over that. I was never like that before. Even if someone brings in a dozen doughnuts, I don't give it much thought and turn them away.

I'm very happy for ya! (Of course, I'll take any opportunity to encourage you to post more pics, but really, that's not going to surprise you ;) Today is weigh-in day for me as well; no loss, no gain for me this week -- the first week I haven't lost anything, but given the barrage of social event after social event, I'm just glad to not have gained anything.
