Work on bathroom number 1 begins

I finally mustered up the energy to start the bathroom tiling. I started with the upstairs bathroom and I was really surprised to see how long it took me to get that done. I'm borrowing a wet saw from a friend I have not used before and it took me at least an hour to get everything setup. There were some parts missing and I had to improvise a bit to deal with getting the water pumped to the saw correctly.

It's not that bad laying down tile now that I've done an entire kitchen floor and backsplash. The worst part is cutting all of the custom pieces. I can fly right along laying down tile over a simple area..., until I get to the edges. Then it's a constant trip back and forth to the wet saw. As for this setup, that means a trip downstairs and into the garage and back again. That's the biggest time sink. When I work on the other bathroom (master bath and it's a little larger at about 40ft2) I will probably have someone help with tile cutting to keep the other work moving along.

Back is sore, but not too bad. Will grout tomorrow. Not sure what I'll do Monday as my body may need a rest before taking on the other bathroom. I do need to keep moving things along though. I think this new tile (6" x 6") is going to look really awesome though when it's al done.

I'm impressed - I tiled the kitchen and bathrooms in my old house in London...and LOATHED every damn minute of it :S
Don't even get me started on grouting...!

My grouting skills have improved, so that's made life easier. However, I'm at the point when it comes to laying and cutting tile, I really need a second person. It's just so time consuming to cut and lay tile while racing the clock to get done before the mortar starts to dry out.

My first grouting killed me. I fought it way too hard. Yesterday went so much easier as I knew what I was doing.

I remember wasting so many tiles learning how to effectively cut them. Glad to hear you've honed your skills though - you'll be a master tiler in no time. Then you'll have to remember to show a furry butt-crack like all tilers (at least in my experience...) ;)

Butt crack? You mean, people do tiling..., clothed?
