Tire update

Heard from my local (and very trusted) BMW mechanic. He strongly recommends that I not replace the one tire on my AWD vehicle. It really puts the AWD components into a bind (literally) and will cause it to fail prematurely (eventually). He does not have the exact specs and I have an email into BMW to check, but I'm stuck again. I'm really starting to regret that I got an xi rather than just an i. It kicks ass in the snow the few times we get it here and during the huge snowstorms I've driven through in WV to go snowboarding. But, it's just not enough to justify it.

So, I'm possibly looking to sell the car and buy another used BMW that suits me better (and it would be nice to lower the payments). Until then I still have my all season tires and will likely just switch back to them in the meantime.

Joe, it puts VERY slight stress on the transfer case. The xi has been around for quite a long time now, and I have not heard of ONE SINGLE transer case failure. I ran with different diameter tires for about 40,000 miles on my 325xiT before I ditched it for the M3.

You're being massively paranoid about a non-issue.
