A bit of a bummer methinks. It's only a fantasy but it would be nice to think that someplace in government things are at least a little bit like the show. If nothing else it gives you the hope that there are some decent well meaning people in a position to make things happen.

I'm a bit disappointed in that I thought it would have been interesting to see a new president's style in place.

maybe it's time...
This may sound odd (and lord knows I overanalyze everything), but I think it was time for the show to end. I just looked and I have the last 4 episodes on my tivo, unwatched...

One of the reasons I was attracted to the show initially and for the first few seasons was that it felt good to watch a government work "right" (well, as right as it could be but still maintain some sense of realism). That is, politics aside, the right thing usually happened on the show, and if it didn't, we understood there were valid reasons why it couldn't. Perhaps it's because I think our current state of (real) government is horrible... West Wing went in my eyes from a hopeful view of what government could be to a constant reminder that our real government (and particularly our leadership) are incompetent and have no accountability. That sounds stupid, I know.

Would be interesting to see how I felt about West Wing if it were running during Clinton's administration...
