Internet via my mobile phone

In preparing for my trip, I started thinking that it would be nice to have Internet access via my phone, but figured it was disabled by Verizon like all of the other mobile tools. I decided to query the web again and found this little jewel. It gives detailed instructions on how to connect your Mac to the Internet using a Verizon Motorola E815 over Bluetooth (works over USB too).

Within minutes I had it up and working! Since I have EVDO service, downloads are about 500Kb/s and uploads 90Kb/s--not bad at all. I'm only charged airtime while connected against my minutes in my Verizon plan. Not sure if that means I get unlimited nights and weekends with this though. Will try to research that tonight.

This means I can use it on the train tomorrow and in my hotel room. There have been many times I've wanted to get on the Internet when I had my laptop with me when traveling around town--now I can! :) Apparently this has been available for about a year.

Now, if it IS unlimited nights and weekends, think of all the bearporn.com and 411 surfing you can do from that laptop while on trips!
I know.. I know. I have a dirty mind!
