LISA update and doorknob spam

Tutorials did not quite go as planned.

First half was "Ethereal And The Art of Debugging Networks" and it was not as technical as I expected. I knew about 90% of the stuff on there. I almost could have taught the class. Grrrr...

Second half was "Project Troubleshooting". This focused on how to deal with challenging projects and how to manage them. One thing I learned is that it's dangerous to be in the position of project manager and a team member on the same project. Shit. I do that every day. Maybe that's why I hate this part of my job? We really need some professional project management. ITS needs it.

When I get back to my room, I (and many other doors along the hall) have bright green bags on them. Yep, it's doorknob spam! WTF?!? It's from Hawaii Medical and this new VAP Guard Oral Kit. It's to help "guard your babies against VAP [Ventilator Associated Pneumonia]". I'm not making this shit up.

rwgill went up to Bethesda and grabbed some dinner and got caught up and what the other one has been doing the past year. Will try DuPont Circle tomorrow night I think.

Otherwise, there is bad news back at work about the Manning building. Looks like it may be set back about 2-3 weeks due to construction snags (fire alarm problems, fire vents that were not planned and leaking chilled water valves). Still much uncertainty.

Part of my old corporate job was working on convention and meeting planning. So, yes, I was one of the people responsible for doorknob spam.
Now, a VAP Guard Oral Kit? You're right - WTF!?! I'd have decorated each of those doors with one of those chintzy little logo'd jeweler screwdriver kits delivered in a canvas bag for all your meeting literature. Night two, you'd probably get the logo'd insulated drink mug, and for the final night - DA TAH! that's when you'd get the polo shirt (again with logo). The shirt would be delivered to the room as folks tend to swipe them when they're left out. Like my ideas better?

Oh, my, Dan, I think you've had too many Jell-O shots again. :p

Still, makes more sense than that crap they left me yesterday. :)
