Awful drive to Jacksonville, FL

My brother and all of his family plus our Mom and Dad drove down (separate vehicles) from here to Jacksonville, FL to see grandparents. They headed down there yesterday. I was supposed to go much earlier on, but had the big data center move planned. Of course, that was canceled and decided to stay here at home while it would be quiet.

By myself I can make the trip in about 6 hours (I stop once for gas and some quick food--that's it). I just got off the phone and he said it took them 11.5 hours! Apparently I95 was just as bad or worse than anticipated and was stop and go all the way. So glad I chose not to go.

oh yeah.. I-95 has had a couple of choke points where holiday traffic grinds to a stop. I've seen it for years... Fayetteville, parts of SC, around Savannah (now mercifully widened to 6-8 lanes).
I have family where I grew up on St. Simons Island Georgia. I can make it to Brunswick, GA in about 6.5 hours, but I stop and drink lots of diet coke, which requires lots of stops to get rid of said diet coke a few miles down the road. And I'm cruise controlled to 5mph over the posted limit. Yeah, I'm slow. But extremely lane-disciplined - unlike a lots of the dolts out there!
