Helllo from Salt Lake City

nc_slow_dancer and I are getting settled in to our vacation home here in SLC. Plane ride was uneventful except for the person sitting on my right who could probably fall asleep at rock concert. He kept banging his head on my shoulder countless times. Otherwise, we were grateful for the non-stop flight from RDU. SLC airport was slammed with people. All of the baggage carousels were literally overflowing with bags on top of bags--just crazy. Got bags and got rental car. Our midsize SUV was not available so we got bumped up to a new Explorer.

The house is great. It's a 2BR and lots of amenities. It's on the ground floor of the owners home. We're located right near the edge of the entrance to the canyons so we're elevated a bit above the city and see almost the entire valley from here (will post some pics tomorrow hopefully). Met the owner and she was wanting to talk to us and find out more about us and offer all kinds of helpful suggestions on what to do. We finally got out to get some lunch, take care of equipment rentals for nc_slow_dancer, groceries, etc.

Took a quick trip up Big Cottonwood Canyon to Brighton and finally got into some real snow. Roads were snow covered up there and could not see any of the slopes due to the heavy snow. Hope that snow keeps up all night for some fresh stuff tomorrow. Came back down and still just mostly cloudy here in SLC.

Getting ready to get some dinner at a place nc_slow_dancer found online for some decent Italian. Other owner just stopped by to check on us and quickly resolved a minor heating issue. Nice to have the owners close bye looking out for us. Comfortable location, great views, easy access, huge TV, etc. all for $150/night--no complaints here.

The only unusual thing is there is a sticker underneath the toilet seat that clearly illustrates that one should not urinate from the standing position (anatomically correct and all). nc_slow_dancer seem particularly disturbed by this, but I think he'll live. :)

I was not disturbed
I just found the *very detailed* stick figures funny. I may have briefly felt that my freedoms were being infringed upon, but I ultimately decided to comply. :-)

Re: I was not disturbed
I, on the other hand, protested the restriction. There was no compliance on my part. :p
