People at work who find out that I don't have a parking permit any more keep freaking out. Someone asked me this week about how I lost my parking space. I told them I turned it in voluntarily. She came back even more shocked like I was on crack. They are just floored that I turned in my parking permit to ride the bus. It's simple math--I'm saving $140/month for a little inconvenience and to spare me the stress of traffic.

All this week the bus comes up on Hwy 54 and has to stop for the 0.5 mi of traffic in front of us. I glance out the big window, see the red tail lights of all the cars..., and go back to reading my email or catching up on LJ. I love that part. All of the walking I've been doing has been remarkable on my body. Yesterday when I went biking I had to push it harder to the the get the heart rate up.

Now when I'm faced with a 10-20 minute walk, it's completely trivial to me.

I start with the bus to work on Monday. No more having to be at work by 7:30 for the duration of the summer!
So, I'll be giving public transport a try myself...

Public Transport
Even if it would take me an hour each way, I would do it. OKC bus service is so bad - that is not possible. 2 hours each way, each day. More people should at least make the attempt to do what you are doing.
Accolades.
